O.Maska qualifed on pole for the race but ran into troubles on the start and dropped down the field while still on the lead lap as everyone battled for position until the start of the safety car periods. It was like this for about 30 laps with restarts and safety car periods as the driver count dropped due to crashes.
By the half way point everything was looking good for O.Maska as he was still in the pack on the lead lap and in contention, other nfinity esport drivers B.Holmberg, A.Stratiev, J.Pickard and S.Hill was all still on the lead lap also.
There then came a good period of the race with no safety cars and the lap count dropped and with some drafts people moved through the field.
In the final last laps a safety car was pulled out in a tense moment as the train of cars was now all together, O.Maska and all the nfinity drivers was in the top ten, on the lead lap and was all in with a shot for the win.
O.Maska came home to win a very close race followed in 2nd by Ori Avdimetaj and 3rd Yann Laprevotte. nfinity’s A.Stratiev finshed 5th, B.Holmberg was behind in 6th but took the fastest lap honours with J.Pickard behind in 7th and finally S.Hill in 10th.
O.Maska’s title was the perfect ending for nfinity esports as the team title championship was decided at the round before and young gun K.Gasiunas claiming the Qualify Trophey in his swansong drive for nfinity eSports.
O.Maska his reaction:
“To be honest, I joined XFusion/nfinity eSports Racing with the vision to have stable, strong and very exprienced team behind me. I prepared for this season since January 2009. I was collecting data, experience and setups since that time. Then the drivers and teams line ups were going to form and I realised that I wouldnt have much chance to end up in top 10 at the and of the season. But I was still getting myself prepared. The first races showed that my performance was not so bad but i could be much better. I considered the podiums in the first round as pure luck :)
Then some more luck came through the season and I collected some other podiums but there were some bad luck races as well. Especially oval SpeedWeeks 400 and Kyoto 500 where I had two horiffic crashes. I the second part of the season looked the drivers championship pretty good for me. Having some providional lead upon excelent Rudy van Buren who whenever appeared took the maximum possible points and one round left RvB took the lead on his side having advantage by 12,5 points. My only chance was to pwn the last round. I did incredible 500 laps during my practice and it payed off. I grabbed pole position which gave me the quite good oppotunity to score good result but wont happend without massive hepl from my brilliant team mates how cleaned the path in front of me and watched my back blocking num attack from my opponents which means that joining nfinity eSports was the best choice. Thank you guys!”
Team Manager S.Hill has this to say:
